Nissan Leaf

Time for another post, here it is,

The Nissan Leaf

(credit: caranddriver.com)
I don't like the styling on the Leaf. The back is almost wedge shaped, for one. The windows look like leaves, I really hope that wasn't intentional.
It claims to get 107 miles to the charge. Keep in mind, a regular gasoline car gets over 300 miles to a tank.
The Leaf generates 107 horsepower, pitiful even for an electric hatchback. That would be enough to overtake on a gasoline hatchback, but the Leaf has an extra 1000 pounds on the frame, making it VERY slow.
The Nissan (with the highest trim package) goes for 37,655! For that, I can get a Dodge Challenger R/T with the 392 HEMI engine! Isn't one of the upsides of driving a hatchback the low price? I will never understand why people will buy the Leaf. To actually save money from the Leaf, you will need to keep it for seven years. This does not include repairs, tires, oil, etc. It doesn't seem worth it.
Nissan issued instructions on how to stay safe if your Leaf crashes. You would think that turning on an electric cutoff  switch, and using the emergency kit you have in your car wouldn't need instructions. I hope that Nissan doesn't issue a manual titled "How to Use The Steering Wheel".

Do you have any thoughts about cats? What drives you crazy? I welcome any respectful comments so keep it clean!
One post on this blog, one post on A Good Popular Blog About Good Popular Cats (if possible) a week, so stay tuned!

  1. That is another thing that drives me batty! Redundant instructions on how to use things! They are everywhere. Shampoo, apply to hair, then rinse off. Who needs to know this? On the front of a cereal box there is a picture of a bowl of cereal. The caption reads:serving suggestion gah! It's maddening. We. are.not.morons. oh, wait, people are buying the Leaf.... Nevermind 😛😛

    1. Apparently, it is the L.E.A.F, Leading Environmentally-friendly Affordable Family car.
Uhhh, it costs $40,000, it isn't exactly affordable.
It is a hatchback, last time I checked, you can't put an entire family in a hatchback.

    1. Yeah, it's actually a backronym, the words were chosen for the letters.

  4. Nissan is going to over indulge and make many trimlines - the maple leaf (to be sold in Canada), the oak leaf, the banyan leaf (to be sold in India), the bamboo ... (in China) and we have many more leaves than we need in fall. Gaaahhhhh!!!

  5. They need to issue instructions and a 6 hour course on ''common sense course before getting behind a car" - close the car door, verify you have two hands and handcuff them to the steering wheel while car is in motion, put side blinders to avoid optical distractions, stay in a sound proof box during the drive so your kids are not screaming while driving and you lose control while you take your hand off steering wheel to whack them and begin screaming at them...
    Make sense?

    2. Verify that you have a brain and all the electrical and chemical signals are functioning - get it checked by your neurologist, preferably and not your brother-in-law who runs a car body shop.

    3. Ensure that all of your cells are getting proper amounts of ATP, make sure your heart is still beating, and check to see if you are currently alive.

  7. I guess verify that you have good taste is a moot point on the checklist, because, you know, you're driving a leaf.....

  8. Whoever wrote these postings probably does not own a Leaf....I do and it has been the best car I have in my 5 cars garage... I drive this care daily , I leave in the dust many more powerful cars at the green light, and never spend time at the gas station. Yes, I don’t use it for long trips. I use it EVERY DAY. I have had since 2014 and NEVER seen a mechanic or oil change or anything other than replacing the front tires. I suspect that the postings here are placed by big oil companies....afraid of losing their huge profits at the gas pump.........
