Spoilers

Time for another post, here it is,

Badly Done Spoilers/Wings
Image result for ricer car spoiler

(the exception for this chart is the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona package)

This has been something that has bothered lots of drivers for a long time. Someone drives up in a body-kitted Toyota, with a spoiler that looks like a stretched out stepladder. These spoilers provide no downforce whatsoever, they just wreck your fuel mileage.

A racing wing is effectively the same thing as the wing off an aircraft, flipped upside down. Splitters, areo tweakers, and diffusers help keep the car in line, producing a bit of downforce while doing so. All this really only works for cars that premium fuel isn't high octane enough for.

.The point is, if you see your friend putting a bench on the back of his Civic, please show him this article.

Do you have any thoughts about cats? What drives you crazy? I welcome all respectful comments, so keep it clean. One post a week, so stay tuned!

  1. I missed this post on Saturday! I saw a Geo Metro with a spoiler about 3 feet up and as wide as the car. I should print up your blog on cars and tuck them in the window of offenders, just for reference 😉

    1. LOL! Geo made really bad cars. Sort of like Vauxhalls, but for America. Awful.

  2. Haha! That's seriously funny. "Bench on the back of his civic"...
My friend owns one of those Vermonsters that he needs a bench to climb on those 35+" wheels...
Maybe they will build one of those flip up wings that SW airline jets have for better wing controls and call that a race car! We"ll see.
